I got this in my inbox the other day, and it says to spread the message, so that is what I am doing. The conference looks interesting, something I will keep my eye on. (I need way too many eyes to keep my eye on all that I want to). It is in my back yard, so it may be feasible to go.

Dark Odyssey

Sorry, I haven’t been posting recently as regularly as I normally do. I will try to keep the blog updated more regularly.

That said, a lot of things have been beckoning my attention recently. An interesting one is an event in Maryland called Dark Odessey.

Dark Odyssey produces three events a year: Winter Fire, Leather Retreat, and Summer Camp. As a community, Dark Odyssey is a melting pot of diverse identities and interests that welcomes people of all genders, sexual orientations, and perversions. Dark Odyssey is a wholly unique experience which brings together sexuality, spirituality, education, and play in a fun, supportive, non-judgmental environment where fantasy becomes reality. Dark Odyssey events immerse you in an atmosphere of sexual energy and experimentation that will add excitement and passion to your relationships and create deeper levels of connection between you and your partners.

In 2008, Leather Retreat, which had been produced for the last ten years by Community Ties, became part of Dark Odyssey. The focus of Leather Retreat has always been on play, and that did not change when it became part of the Dark Odyssey family. We have outstanding presenters giving great hands-on workshops, but Dark Odyssey: Leather Retreat is really about relaxing, making friends, and playing … a lot. Playing all day long. Playing before breakfast. Playing at the pool. Playing on a boulder next to the road on the way to the pool … just because the moment felt right.

It should be interesting. Definitely and event I will need to keep my eye on so that when I get more money I might want to attend.

BDSM Covered by Human Rights in Canada?

Well I am back after a long weekend with some out of town company, so the blog should continue now at a bit more regular pace. I ran across this story just before I left and I thought I would share it with you.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Reuters) – A Canadian man who claims he was discriminated against as a pagan who practices a form of sadomasochism will get to take his complaint to a human rights tribunal.

An appeals court rejected a bid by Vancouver police on Tuesday to block a hearing on whether Peter Hayes’ rights were violated when an officer refused to grant him the permit he needed to get a chauffeur’s job.

Police went to the courts, arguing the tribunal and a lower court judge erred in agreeing to hear Hayes’ complaint because the laws designed to protect the sexual orientation of gays and lesbians did not extend to protecting types of sexual practices.

A B.C. Court of Appeal panel ruled unanimously that the police motion was premature since the tribunal’s hearing was to decide what, if any, sexual practices deserved legal protection, and even the tribunal’s chairwoman was unsure if the human rights code did that.

This will be an interesting case to watch.  It would be nice if we had such protections here in the States.

Incredible Gear

I am always looking for some new and interesting gear for BDSM activities. While perusing Thndrshark’s website the other day, I came across some truly amazing bondage gear. Martin’s rigid cuffs are exactly that. Extremely solid, durable, aluminum shackles with a very modern look. Many designs are linked by thick solid metal as well. These things are simply amazing. While not cheap, I am definitely planning on adding one or two to my collection in the distant future. I really suggest you check them out.
