Service Savoire Faire 9/28/9

28 09 2009
  • Outside my window… (weather, what do you hear, what do you see?) it is a nice day out rainy but the breeze blowing felt really good…sort of warm. I love it. Sort of wish I was naked in a field letting the rain and win caress my body…sighs.

  • my thoughts…are on setting my life in order. Organizing things so that the kids and I can move our life closer to Master.

  • Today’s Quote…”As I drifted away I could only bask in the good feelings being with a man I loved one whose life had become inextricably woven into mine. Whatever else mastery and slavery has held for us, it has meant contentment.”  The Compleat Slave, Jack Rinella

  • I remember saying to Master when we first got together that the one thing I did not want was for us to to get use to each other. To me that meant we would fall into a rut of taking each other for granted and not appreciating each other. Sort of losing sight of how special we are to each other.

  • I have changed my view on that. When I am in Master’s space, my very soul just breathes a sigh of relief and contentment. I am soulfully happy to be in his space and I love it.

  • i am thankful for…always my family, all my moments – good and bad

  • From my service training… (any skills, training etc; notes you want to share this week) I am learning to focus on my space through meditation.

  • From the kitchen… (menu for the week, what are you cooking?) So I made my butternut squash soup and homemade biscuits for dinner this weekend. It was a hit and miss. The soup was a bit thicker than I expected because I think I over beat it since I made it with cream. My youngest daughter made the homemade biscuits and we had a lot of fun cooking and sharing with each other. My youngest son Jacob was not too enthused on the soup. He is a meat and potatoes kind of guy and the thought of having soup as a main meal was not good for him. He said that he never heard of someone having soup for an entrée that people only order it as an appetizer. LOL So the next meal I cook will have to be something with substance. He ended up eating a frozen pizza. Also, as something I thought would be interesting I served the soup in wine glasses which two of my children liked but again my finicky eater Jacob did not like it.

This cooking thing is turning out to be a fun adventure not just for me but for the kids as well.

  • i am wearing…my skin…lol relaxing in the freedom to be free.

  • i am creating… (crafts, sewing etc;) nothing new at the moment

  • my adventures this week… (where are you going this week?) No adventures this weekend. I am going to continue to do stuff around my house.

  • Becoming well read… (What are you reading this week?) Listening to the Four Agreements and thinking about getting the new Oprah selection called Say You’re One of Them by Uwem Akpan. I read the few pages posted on her site and was instantly grabbed by the visuals created.

  • i manifest and co-create… (what are your hopes, dreams, and prayers this week) Peace and tranquility in my house and with my children. I pray for the people around us to not take their life for granted.

  • Todays Melody… (what music are you listening to? even if it’s just the sound of a bird…) So I was on the train coming home and I was tired and totally impatient for the doors to open at my stop. I heard one of best sounds ever….a baby laughing. I love that sound. Babies laugh with such abandon and joy. Perked me right up.

  • One of my favorite things…is to daydream. Yeah I admit I like to take moments and let my mind wander to wherever it wants to go. I dream and day dream in bright vibrant colors.

  • further plans for this week…housecleaning/clearing. Continuing my workout plan. Fixing up my house further.

  • Still….life (share a picture you’ve taken OR a picture you found online that speaks to you)

BDSM Events This Week: 1 in Real Time and 1 in Virtual Space

23 09 2009

I wanted to bring to your attention two events that I recommend and will actually be attending. The first event is the BZ Conference in cyberspace. My girl has mentioned these before, but with what is coming up on Thursday, I thought I would mention it again. Master Black Zeus has been running these conferences for years now. He has won the BlackBEAT community award for providing these services to the community. (As a note, while Master Black Zeus was away attending the Masters and slaves conference in DC, he asked me to fill in for them for him. Had a blast doing it for the last 3 weeks).

I think that this experience is a great way for novices to get some experiences with some people who have a lot of real time knowledge. It is pretty good for more experienced players too. And tomorrow (Thursday the 24th, for those of you coming here later), Catherine Gross is being interviewed. I have spoken of her stuff before, and those of you unfamiliar with her should check out the links. If you want to attend, the password is “gifts” (without the quotes). It should be fascinating, and I hope to see some new faces there. Bring a mic so you can really participate (the software supports both a camera and a mic, but you can type if you are feeling shy or don’t have the equipment). Both myself and my girl (unless things change) will be there!

The other event, the Charlotte Fetish Fair Flea Market, will be in town this weekend. I am planning to attend this weekend, so if you want to catch me in person Saturday is the date to do so. In case you haven’t heard, the Fetish Fair Flea Market is:

What is a Fetish Fair Fleamarket(tm)? The Fetish Fair Fleamarket brings
togther top national vendors with local crafters and businesses to
create a showcase of fetish, leather, latex, and BDSM shopping that is
unmatched. The exhibits are accompanied by a full program of classes,
demonstrations, and meet-ups, gala nighttime events, and other fun.

Here is the class schedule for this weekend. It looks interesting. There is even a FetLife meet up (and LifeJournal? People still use that? lol). Hope to see you there. Look for the big bald guy in the leather vest… er yeah that might not be a good description for a leather event. LOL. Well try to find me and say “hi” anyway.

I hope to hear from you guys in the comments.

Service Book of Days – 9/22/09

22 09 2009
  • Outside my window… (weather, what do you hear, what do you see?) it was such a beautiful day for the first day of fall. Outside my window at work there were hundreds of birds gathering for their fall flight away. It was a fascinating sight
  • my thoughts...are relaxed. I am feeling good about the energy flowing through my house and the way things are going. Normally when things are going so well I would almost prepare myself for the something bad that I thought would follow these good moments. I’m not doing that anymore. I am enjoying all the good moments and letting the things I don’t know worry about themselves. God is right…tomorrow has its own worries…today is where I need to be….(okay that was a big paraphrase but the sentiment is the same…lol)
  • Today’s Quote…It is not the happiness that makes us grateful…But the gratefulness that makes us happy. Not really sure where I saw this quote at but it has been one of my favorites for a long time.
  • i am thankful for…always my family, all my moments – good and bad
  • From my service training... (any skills, training etc; notes you want to share this week) Nothing new at the moment
  • From the kitchen… (menu for the week, what are you cooking?) I am learning how to cook one new meal a weak for the kids. We had curried, mango pork chops with brown rice last week. I think this week I will make a butternut squash soup and homemade biscuits.
  • i am wearing...black jeans and a black t-shirt….feeling very loose and relaxed.
  • i am creating… (crafts, sewing etc;) nothing new at the moment
  • my adventures this week... (where are you going this week?) I am going to a munch in New york this weekend with friends. Should be a ton of fun 🙂
  • Becoming well read... (What are you reading this week?) Finishing up the Compleat Slave by Jack Rinella.
  • i manifest and co-create… (what are your hopes, dreams, and prayers this week) Peace and tranquility in my house and with my children. I pray for the momentum that we have established with this school year to continue through the rest of the school year.
  • Todays Melody... (what music are you listening to? even if it’s just the sound of a bird…)”Changes” by Incognito…the chorus of this song says “bring on the changes”. That’s wassup…One thing that happens in this life is that things change…sometimes good…sometimes bad. I want to not shy away from the changes that happen.
  • One of my favorite things…is to daydream. Yeah I admit I like to take moments and let my mind wander to wherever it wants to go. I dream and day dream in bright vibrant colors.
  • further plans for this week…housecleaning/clearing. Continuing my workout plan. Going to a munch on Saturday
  • Still….life (share a picture you’ve taken OR a picture you found online that speaks to you)

Service Book of Days 9/17/09

17 09 2009
  • Outside the window of the train…it is still dark outside as I have been going into to work a bit early to make up some time.  I’m always amazed at the amount of people who are out of the house and moving and 5am.
  • my thoughts…are clear, peaceful and energetic…lol  I have a lot of stuff to do and a lot of energy to do it with.  This amazes me because I feel like for the past year of so my energy level has been non existent, my head has been cloudy and stuff has been happening around me.  Like I have been operating singular focussed.  Now I feel like I can actually participate fully in life.
  • Today’s Quote… Know, first, who you are, and then adorn yourself accordingly. Epictetus   From the Merriam Webster online dictions:  adorn implies an enhancing by something beautiful in itself.

I love this quote.   I love things that are simple yet effective.  I find I complicate things way more than necessary anyway.  I know I am Master’s slave and I adorn myself with His mastery, with His love,  with submission to my Master, grace, honesty, commitment, and willingness to be His fully.

  • i am thankful for…the small things in life and the clarity to see how important they are.
  • From my service training…I am sinking fully into my space with Master and learning how more and more my submission to him changes my entire life.  The skills I learn in speaking, cooking, presenting myself, accountability,  and relating to him transfer to every part of my life in dealing with kids, family, co-workers.  Feels really good to “live life wide awake”.
  • From the kitchen… tonight I would like to try something different to cook so I will be searching for a quick but delicious recipe to fix for the kiddies
  • i am wearing…black pants, black boots, black shirt with a white shrug
  • i am creating…order and clarity.  I am looking to find a cleansing ritual for my house.  I think I will stop by the local shop that sells stones and such to see if they can help me find something
  • my adventures this week… starting back to the gym…today…Thursday
  • Becoming well read…A dragonfly in Amber…The Compleat Slave by Jack Rinella…listening slowly to the Four Agreements (again)
  • Today’s Melody… And I gave my Love to you…by Sonja Marie  (Waiting to Exhale Soundtrack)  I wasn’t to enthused about the movie but I love, love the soundtrack.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrqOYlSZujA
  • One of my favorite things…is to decompress with my kids after their day at school.  Just chatting about stuff that happened to them that day and hanging.
  • Still….life… mmmmmmm ice

Atlanta Police Raids Atlanta Eagle

16 09 2009

Last Thursday, the Atlanta Police Department decided to stage a raid on the Atlanta Eagle. For those not in the know, the Eagle is a leather bar in Atlanta. While I haven’t been to it, Eagles are usually nice places (all independently owned) for those interested in Leather Men or the like to hang out. I was disturbed to read that the Eagle was raided on Thursday. A great writeup by the Atlanta Progressive News was written by someone who was there.

The present writer for Atlanta Progressive News–who had come to the bar to dance–witnessed as several bar staff and male dancers were arrested between approximately 12:30am and 1am and taken away in paddy wagons, but it is not immediately clear why. One source stated he believed it was because the bar did not have a license for the dancers. (CORRECTION: A previous version of this article stated patrons had been arrested; no patrons were arrested).
About ten police cars and about 15 cops raided the bar, allegedly looking for drugs.
However, the police were said to have ordered all patrons to get on the ground–including patrons who were just dancing or standing at the bar–and numerous patrons said people were handcuffed indiscriminately.
Bar patrons were furious at the aggressive and indiscriminate treatment and called the incident “harassment.”

(There are a lot of details in the article that I would recommend that you read.) Politicians running for mayor have criticized the raid. And the NCSF has condemned the raid.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE National Coalition for Sexual Freedom
NCSF Condemns the Atlanta Police Department’s Raid on the Eagle
September 15, 2009 – On September 10th, the Atlanta Eagle was raided by local police who used excessive force and voiced anti-gay slurs while handcuffing 62 patrons and 8 employees, forcing them to lie face- down on the floor for over an hour. The strong use of force included the presence of the “Red Dog unit” which typically deals with crimes such as gang violence.
Atlanta Police Chief Richard Pennington held a press conference yesterday afternoon stating that the gay leather bar was raided because of anonymous complaints that came through the mayor’s office. One undercover officer stated in a September 11th report following the raid that it was the “conclusion of a several week investigation involving indecency and the club was providing adult entertainment without the proper permits to do so.”
“It’s a clear violation of the civil rights of those who were detained without cause,” says Susan Wright, NCSF Spokesperson. “Instead of making an arrest at the time of the alleged offense, the Atlanta vice squad spent many hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxpayer’s money to raid the gay leather bar and persecute Atlanta citizens.”
NCSF demands a full probe into the alleged misconduct and the allocation of resources by the Atlanta police department. NCSF also joins state and local representatives in urging anyone present the night of the arrests to step forward and file a formal complaint. Please contact NCSF for additional assistance to ensure that this matter is investigated in an open process.
A rally on Sunday at the Eagle drew a large presence in support of the victims by the LGBT community. Another rally is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2009.

National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF)

Personally, I am horrified that this kind of thing goes on. If you actually live in Atlanta, I would suggest that you contact your city government and let them know how you feel.

There was a protest in Atlanta this past Sunday, I wish I lived close enough so that attending the protest would have practical for me. Hundreds showed up. That is a good start. The inquiry is expected to last until at least December or January. I only hope that this doesn’t get brushed under the rug in the mean time.

Let me know what you think, in the comments.
