International Master and slave 2010 Announced

This past weekend saw the South Plains Leatherfest, International Master/slave Weekend, come and go. Two friends of mine won the International Master/slave competition. Congratulations (again) to Master Obsidian and slave namaste. For those of you unaware of the significance of this, I found this on the event’s web site.

The Owners/Producers of the International Master/slave Contest are committed to providing the leather/SM and Master/slave communities with an International Master and an International slave who will represent the M/s lifestyle with integrity and competence. The holders of the International Master and International slave titles will be seen as spokespersons for the Master/slave community, and as such, one of the most important attributes of the titleholders should be the ability to clearly and effectively communicate what it means to them to live and identify as Master and slave.

It is expected that the holders of the titles will take every opportunity to educate the leather/SM and M/s communities on the Master/slave lifestyle, and will actively seek out venues that will allow them to speak on Master/slave issues, whether that be through speeches, seminar presentations, participation on panel discussions, writing articles, etc.

The International Master and slave titles are not about a particular “look,” dress, body type, gender or sexual orientation. There is no required set of protocols that the International Master and slave are expected to follow.

Contestants at the International Master/slave Contest have competed at and won one of the regional Master/slave contests certified as official feeder contests by International.

Master Obsidian is one of the most in-depth thinkers I have know when it comes to TPE/IE. I have learned quite a bit reading his words and look forward to learning more.  Slave namaste was the mentor of my girl. She is an amazing person, who exudes grace, poise and spirituality.

Now to persuade CAPEX to bring them to town.

Service Book of Days 3/1/10

  • Outside my window… (weather, what do you hear, what do you see?)  is about 40 degrees and windy.  We just got through another major snowstorm (2nd one in February).   We got about 2ft of snow…great for making snowmen but horrible for shoveling.
  • my thoughts… are sad.  My sister died last week (2/25) and I feel like something is missing.  My sisters and brothers are integral to me.  We are all so different yet we manage to truly love each other.   I feel the loss of this one…like a number has been ticked off…one down 8 to go.
  • Today’s Quote… Death can sneak up on you like a silent kitten, surprising you with it’s touch and you have a right to act surprised. Other times death stomps in the front door, unwanted and unannounced, and makes it’s noisy way to your seat on the sofa. Hugh Elliott, Bible Versus, 11-27-08
Author of the Standing Room Only Weblog (http://blogs.salon.com/0001573/).
  • i am thankful for…more time…different days
  • From my service training…(any skills, training etc; notes you want to share this week) appreciating the small touches…flowers on a table…changing curtains in a room…new pillows on the couch…scented candles…a new picture on the wall…a table clothsmall touches that make a home more comfy and inviting.
  • From the kitchen…(menu for the week, what are you cooking?)  nothing different this week…may make some lasagna though…feel in the need for comfort foods.
  • i am wearing… a black cowl neck sweater, grey pants and black boots…hmmm I wonder if this is my Monday outfit as I seem to have worn the shirt and boots last week…lol
  • i am creating…(crafts, sewing etc;)  nothing at the moment.
  • my adventures this week…(where are you going this week?)  no adventures this week.  I will be hanging around the house with my kids .
  • Becoming well read…(what are you reading this week?)  No books this week…just thoughts and adjustments.
  • i manifest and co-create…(what are your hopes, dreams, and prayers this week) Words of hope and peace and confidence for my children.  Words of perseverance and the desire to do it now instead of later.   I pray for the upcoming move to be smooth and without any issues.
  • Today’s Melody…(what music are you listening to? even if it’s just the sound of a bird…) No songs today
  • One of my favorite things…is to receive a hug from someone who really wants to give it to me and to give one in return.  I have realized that one of the walls I have built was one of keeping people away.  It is hard for me to allow people to touch me and to really allow them to “touch me” in a physical/emotional way.
  • further plans for this week…keeping it low…no plans for the week.

New Sport for the Olympics?

1803592134_bfbf336348

Well I wouldn’t get my hopes up too much but there appears to be a move on to get pole dancing into the Olympics. I think it is about time.

Personally, there isn’t a much better way to spend a Friday night for me than to spend it watching a graceful woman spin around the pole, climbing up and down it with a sense of grace. I might actually tune into the show to watch it if they were to add this.

In one story:

The Winter Olympics may be getting dismal local ratings, but if the pleas of poll dancers across the world to have their “sport” recognized by the Olympics are heeded, we’ve got a feeling ratings would shoot through the roof.
“After a great deal of feedback from the pole dance community, many of us have decided that it’s about time pole fitness is recognized as a competitive sport, and what better way for recognition than to be part of the 2012 Olympics held in London,” British pole dancer KT Coates writes in an email to the Associated Press.

And in another:

For Japan’s Mai Sato, watching all those gold medals being handed out in Vancouver is a bittersweet experience.

Sato knows the demands of being the best. In her world, blisters are the rule, bruises a way of life. And the training — five hours a day, five days a week.

The world champion in her sport, Sato is as athletic, dedicated and competitive as the Olympians representing their nations. And she thinks it’s high time her discipline, too, got some real recognition.

Let us all cheer for this sport, eh?

Kinky Is Not a Diagnosis

Hi, sorry for taking last week off.  I was with my girl, and frankly got busy with doing things with her. That said, the NCSF has basically declared victory in their efforts to have Lifestyle activities removed from the DSM – V.

For those not familiar with the DSM (the Diagnostics and Statistical Manual), this is the book that the head doctors use when trying to figure out what sort of crazy you are.

Most important, it’s used by doctors to define what’s normal and what’s not. It was the DSM that officially declared homosexuality a mental disorder, and then in 1973 officially undeclared it. It’s defined an ever-expanding range of phobias and addictions that we’re still arguing about, but this time demands for more transparency aim to crack open the window on DSM deliberations, so interested parties can weigh in before they are enshrined, because once they are, the FDA approves drugs to treat them, and any further debate is drowned out in the flood of direct-to-consumer ads. [Link]

The NCSF says:

In the proposals for the Diagnostic and Statistic Manual (DSM-V), alternative sexual behavior has been depathologized. NCSF applauds the American Psychiatric Association’s Paraphilias Subworkgroup’s revisions which state that you can be a fetishist, transvestite, sadist or masochist without having a mental disorder. More work needs to be done but this is an important first step!

Finally. I knew I wasn’t that crazy.

Service book of Days 2/22/10

  • Outside my window… (weather, what do you hear, what do you see?)  is more cold weather.  After the heatwave of this weekend (40 degrees) being back in the 20s and 30s is a reminder of winter’s icey fingers.
  • my thoughts… are many.  Pensive and introspective.
  • Today’s Quote… I like coincidences. They make me wonder about destiny, and whether free will is an illusion or just a matter of perspective. They let me speculate on the idea of some master plan that, from time to time, we’re allowed to see out of the corner of our eye. Chuck Sigars, The World According to Chuck weblog, September 8, 2003
  • i am thankful for…coffee with pumpkin pie spices 🙂 mmmmmm
  • From my service training…(any skills, training etc; notes you want to share this week) nothing at the moment
  • From the kitchen…(menu for the week, what are you cooking?)  hmmm something different but not sure what…time to bring out the cookbook again.
  • i am wearing… a black cowl neck sweater, black slacks and black boots and underneath…my hello kitty underwear…hey gotta have some reason to smile during the day…lol
  • i am creating…(crafts, sewing etc;)  nothing at the moment.
  • my adventures this week…(where are you going this week?)  no adventures this week.  I will be hanging around the house with my kids and getting my energy back.
  • Becoming well read…(What are you reading this week?)  Listening to my podcasts.  One of my favorite authors, Scott Sigler, does a great horror podcast.  I am reading one of his current novellas called “Kissyman and the Gentleman”.
  • i manifest and co-create…(what are your hopes, dreams, and prayers this week) Words of hope and peace and confidence for my children.  Words of perseverance and the desire to do it now instead of later.
  • Today’s Melody…(what music are you listening to? even if it’s just the sound of a bird…) No songs today
  • One of my favorite things…is to look up.  Sometimes I forget that there is more above the trees.  When I open my eyes to take it all in the world is really much larger than I think.
  • further plans for this week…keeping it low…no plans for the week.
