50 Shades of Grey Bumps BDSM Porn Searches

Something came across my radar today. 50 Shades of Grey caused a bump in searches on BDSM while surfing for porn according to Pornhub. Hardly surprising, but interesting to note.  That said, if you are looking for better BDSM art than you would find in the 50 Shades books or film, I would look at the 12 artists referred to in this article over in the Huffington Post.  Much more entertaining and thought provoking.

BlackBEAT Conference on 

I’ve been an attendee for this conference for years. I met my slave and wife here. I’m on the core team as well. I thought I would post our message here for my readers. 
 
 
Greetings Black BEAT Family,

Ten plus years has proven our allegiance and unrelenting efforts to serve the BDSM community.  We’ve made history and have been able to bring together African Americans from across the country over the years, and we’re extremely proud of that.

A sentinel moment has come.  Your Black BEAT Founders and Executive Board have decided to a hiatus.  We intend to be vigilant in our determination to explore meaningful ways to promote education and enjoyment upon our future return. 

We set lofty goals and we have accomplished what we set out to do and then some.  Last year our conference was a huge success, and our hiatus comes at a perfect pivotal time. Bringing people of color together and encouraging them to start their own groups and events helped to emphasize education.  We did not have a Black BEAT type social arena 12 years ago when we began our journey.  Thank you to those who saw the vision and have ventured toward your own thing! 

We now intend to create a big dream list to set our sights on designing our international conference to possibly involve more positive and affordable experiences.  While we do not have a date to announce when we will return, we feel extremely fortunate to have had all the experiences and to have met so many amazing people along the way.  The amount of gratitude for those who have attended is immeasurable, and we’re forever grateful for the support of those attending one or all of our conferences, including our dynamic presenters.  We are forever grateful for every moment of your time.

Thanks to ALL of you for your ongoing support and love. Taking a break can be risky, however, we are confident that our return will be worth the wait.  You are a constant inspiration to us, and we will keep our purpose constant.  You will receive ample time to rejoin us upon our return.

This is not good bye, this is until we meet again!

A Spanking Game?

It has been a while since my last post I know, but I ran across something I wanted to share. Kotaku has a new post about a spanking game. It is about a domme trying to get a sub excited by spanking him. The game, called Hurt me Plenty, is designed to be used with a Leap Motion, so you can get into the action. Gameplay is about our community’s focus on consent. Seems pretty cool.

It is an odd little thing, but I thought I would share.

Preventing Date Rape with Date Rape Drug Detection

So we have a big issue of women and men setting down drinks and getting them dosed with some sort of drug. This ends up with robbery, rape or worse.  I ran across some interesting stories in the news where technology is being leveraged to combat this. The first story was on Gizmodo and Jezebel  via the Daily Mail about some people at NC State Material Science department creating nail polish that detects drugs in drinks.

 

That is in the future, in the now, LifeHacker has a story about coasters and strips that can detect tainted drinks.  Perhaps you should get some.

Black BEAT 2014 Was Off the Chain This Year

BlackOut2014Ok, I may be biased, but this is one of the best Black BEATS in recent years.  I have heard so much from the participants about how they enjoyed it.  There were so many new faces too.  More than any conference I can remember (excepting the first one). It had energy too.  And the after parties rocked (let’s not get into the male stripper for the ladies, I hear they had a lot of fun in that after party too). The DJ in the dungeon rocked.  What other event does that?  I’m sure there are some, but this one was awesome.  I hope that one day you guys have a chance to get to an event that is half this good.

Now I will admit my biases. I love this conference. I started on the first one. and have only missed a couple of them.  I have been the Head of Security for 4 years, and was on the Core Member board this year. I also was able to present on two topics this year. My Electrical Play Demo class, and a less formal Cane & Crops lounge.  I got a lot of positive feed back from the attendees which I really appreciate.
