BDSM from the BBC

I follow some of the BBC stuff.  I ran across this article today and I thought you would find this interesting. There has been a big scandal in Europe involving some sort of Big Wig in racing and a prostitute.  Still it lead the BBC to write this article on BDSM practices and I found it fairly good.  Enjoy.

Nobody knows how many people are involved in the “scene”: a loose grouping of people across the country who enjoy an unorthodox – and under current laws potentially illegal – sexual lifestyle. However, one US study suggests 11% of women and 14% of men have engaged in BDSM – an abbreviation for bondage, discipline, domination, submission, sadism and masochism – activities.

A “dominant” calling himself Sir Guy says it’s a “chance to forget all adult responsibilities and – in the best sense of the word – be irresponsible. One of my puppies [his term for a submissive] refers to his sessions as ‘holidays from humanity’.”

Let me know what you think, in the comments

  1. I think this Sir Guy just put any possibility of acceptance back about 20 years 😛 ‘be irresponsible’. . .

Of course, he may have actually said more that made this particular phrase make sense (I don’t know how, but hey, I’m giving him a slight break). Lord knows it wouldn’t be the first time the media took something and turned it into something else. . .

And the ‘potentially illegal’ part is just. . . well, scary. What I do with myself or anyone else is nobody’s business but mine and the other person. . . I am fanatical about that- to have laws that make consensual things illegal. . . I mean. . . yeah, scary.

Sorry I’m so choppy – I’m just getting home from a fireworks show – the synapses are firing unevenly (but the fireflies were AMAZING) 😀
