2010: A Few Thoughts to End a Year

31 12 2010

[Youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGJuMBdaqIw]

2010 has been a very interesting year for those in the House of Void. I was in the middle of an implosion of my local community, when one of the leaders began a rabid campaign against anyone who had different views, I lost my job, got a new one, had to back out of a major commitment, got a servant, and even got married. It was a very big year.

But as I think back, I think it was over all a good year. The positives out weighed the negatives. I want to finish up this year with a thought. As a Master, it is my job to inspire my slave, not merely have her serve me. I linked to this video (Firework by Katy Perry) because I think it embodies that ideal. We have to bring out the best in our slaves and submissives by being their inspiration. And, every so often, it works in reverse too. Yes, my slave has inspired me to push myself, to get me out of my confort zone, just as I have inspired her. Someone told me once that a Master/slave relationship is an unequal relationship between equal people. I firmly believe this. I live this.

So, next year, be an inspiration to your partner. And try to see if your partner inspires you too.

Service Book of Days 12/21/10

21 12 2010

v Outside my window… (weather, what do you hear, what do you see?) is such a beautiful clear night with a gorgeous full moon.  It seems as if I have seen many full moons in the past two months.

v my thoughts… are on faery’s.

v Today’s Quote: Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.

Jane Howard“Families”

Yup I agree with this…whether biological or other we all are designed to be in relation to someone else.  I am fortunate enough to have a biological family that was chosen for me who I like…lol and a  leather family who I chose who I like 😀

v i am thankful for…grape jam and crunchy peanut butter on wheat bread with chocolate milk J

v From my service training…(any skills, training etc; notes you want to share this week)  nothing new at the moment.

v From the kitchen…(menu for the week, what are you cooking?) Well…I have not cooked too many new dishes geared towards a vegan diet.  Anyone have any good recipes I can try for Vegans?

v i am wearing…A black warm sweater and some black sweat pants

v i am creating…(crafts, sewing etc;) Nothing new at the moment

v my adventures this week…(where are you going this week?)  Finishing up last minute stuff for Christmas.  I have to say I have bought few items at the mall.  I did the bulk of my shopping online.  J

v Becoming well read…(What are you reading this week?) Listening to Uncle  Tom’s Cabin.  I don’t remember reading it in school so for me this will be the first time.

v i manifest and co-create…(what are your hopes, dreams, and prayers this week)  Awareness and appreciation of the cold weather.  I swear this season is usually like hibernating season for me but I want to do it different and not fade through this season but actually see this time of year.

v Today’s Melody…(what music are you listening to? even if it’s just the sound of a bird…) Minnie the Moocher…LOL  just came in from my daughter’s last winter concert in Middle school.

v One of my favorite things…having one on one time with my children J  no orders or expectations just conversation J  I am appreciating this more and more as they grow and change.

v further plans for this week…Nothing this week.   Keeping it close to home.

In my lifetime I got to be a part of a once in a lifetime event…a solar eclipse on winter solstice.  I was sleep for it…lol but when people talk about it I can say I was alive for it. 🙂

History of Leather

15 12 2010
restored Tryon Palace, New Bern, NC

Hi, Sorry I have been gone. Been wrapped up with marriage, starting a new job and a new edition of World of Warcraft. Let my writing here get behind.

During this time, a few thoughts have come to mind. I have been thinking a lot about our history as a sub-culture. I wrote before about the Leather History Museum in Chicago. Fantastic place, one I will have to visit some day. But there are so many things. We are so hidden as a sub-culture. We don’t want people to know about us. This causes many things to be lost. I implore you so save what you have and pass it along to the next generation (perhaps waiting until you can no longer be hurt by people that would miss use it) so that they can learn from what you have experienced.

An excellent example of this is the Carter/Johnson Library. They have amassed a collection of books, magazines and other memorabilia dating as far back as the 1700’s. I personally have seen this collection (it is a major attraction at BlackBEAT every year) and can literally spend hours perusing it. If you have the chance please do check it out. It is FANTASTIC.

An excellent opportunity for this will be happening next October when the North Carolina Leather History Conference takes place. The full details have not been released yet, but I do plan on attending with my slave.
